NEW OHIO RIVER AGREEMENT EXPANDS FISHING OPPORTUNITIES FOR OHIO AND
KENTUCKY ANGLERS

COLUMBUS, OH - Thanks to a new agreement between Ohio and Kentucky,
anglers from either state can now fish both shores of the Ohio River with a
single fishing license from their state of residence, according to the Ohio
Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.
The new agreement applies only to Kentucky and Ohio residents and
does not include Ohio River embayments and tributary areas. Under the two
state's previous agreement, anglers could only fish from boats on the
section of river between Kentucky and Ohio with either a Kentucky or an Ohio
fishing license.
Unified regulations are in effect for bass, walleye, sauger,
crappie, muskellunge, and striped, hybrid, and white bass (see the 2003-04
Ohio Fishing Regulations). For all other species, anglers must abide by the
regulations of the state by which they are licensed, except that Ohio
anglers must abide by Kentucky laws when fishing from the Kentucky
shoreline, and Kentucky anglers must abide by Ohio laws when fishing from
the Ohio shoreline.
