Lake Erie Fishing Report: May 1, 2003

As the number of walleye in the Sandusky and Maumee Rivers decline the
number of fish caught in the lake continues to increase. Several reports
have been received of anglers catching their limits in the western basin.
Anglers are picking fish up from north of the Davis-Besse Power Plant to
Catawba Island. Favorite tactics include trolling shallow running minnow
imitations behind planner boards and jigging on the reef complex. Trolling
success seems to be highest when clear water can be located.
