We are into fall fishing mode now and the east and northeast winds are here to prove it. The forecast for this week says east, north, and northeast winds again, with another fall cold front coming in from the west. But the fish have to eat , right!
The perch fishing is still holding in with the some nice fall perch being caught. The best spots are around Gull and Kelley’s reefs. Further west the best is just west of Green and Rattlesnake islands, and the range buoys and just of Port Clinton. The bait shops are still holding in on shinners and flatheads mixed. Remember that some small walleye are being caught, please return them some we have our future.
Walleyes are spotting but some are still being caught in the rocks and just west of North Bass island. East of Kelley’s island is a very good school of walleye, but they are on a day to day bases, no real heavy activity on that school. Further east they are still catching eyes just west of the bar, when the weather lets you out.
The season for boat fishing is quickly coming to an end for the 2008 season, and it was just as good as we expected it would be. I am gearing up for the upcoming ice fishing season and will give you a weekly update. I will be booking two persons charters for that season. For now we still have some great deals for the remainder of the fall season. Just give us a call on the opening.
Good fishin
Capt Bob Hughey
