Back to back 20+ inch smallmouth bass Lake Erie Shades Beach

Wednesday morning finds the rain past and a stiff north east wind. Caught some large mouth in Presque Isle Bay before going into the main lake. Started in the main lake at the cribs area catching a few smallmouth on each fast drift.

Moved to Shades Beach, wind still cold and strong from the north east. Caught some fish right away in 15 to 18 feet.

The sky was cloudy, then clear, then cloudy and then finally clear. The big heater in the sky now felt good. The lake slowly got a little better and the fishing got better also.

Drift continued to be fast with smallmouth on the line dancing on the water. There were some doubles caught.

Captain pulled in a 20.5 inch 6.5 pound smallie on a crayfish. What power these smallies do have.

Next cast, back to back, 20.125 inch smallie for the captain, caught on the old faithful golden shiner. The day ended with lots of smiling faces and a nice down wind ride home.
