This weeks report is dedicate to Jim Irwin , a dedicated angler and friend of the Walnut Creek Access

WEST ERIE COUNTY DWCO Randy Leighton / WCO Brook Tolbert

An all day soaker Tuesday brought the the Lake Erie Tributary levels up to muddy conditions again, but probably for a short time based on this weeks weather forecasts. There is some rain and possible snow in the forecast which may help to bring levels back up and put some color in the tribs. Catches have been good with anglers doing very well at the mouth of Trout and Godfrey Runs. The rain triggered some action at the Walnut Creek Marina basin with a good number taken over the past few days on shiners and tipped jiggs. With the on and off rainfall, Crooked creek has been productive and less crowded than the access areas. Current Lake Erie water temperature of the port of Erie is and average 51 degrees. Area tribs were flowing and muddy as of late Tuesday afternoon.

Area Reminders:
Anglers are reminded that fishing at the mouth of Godfrey Run is "walk in only" from the top of the hill and like Trout Run, anglers are not permitted to fish within 50 yards of the mouth between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM the following day. The parking lot across from the Struechan Flats area off Elk Valley road is privately owned and closed to parking. Anglers should park on the opposite side in the larger parking area off Sterritania Road. Waters north of the bridge on Abel's Road crossing Crooked Creek are state controlled nursery waters and fishing is not permitted. Anglers fishing under the bridge or anywhere in the this area are not permitted to drift their lines north of the bridge. The Conrail Tubes area on Walnut creek is often a popular area and because of the seclusion has been a problem area lately. Many anglers are under the misguided impression that this is public land owned by the railroad when in fact it is privately owned. Fires and camping are not permitted in this area. Public fishing access could be in jeopardy if illegal activities continue in this area.

Local Law Enforcement Summary from WCO Tom Edwards, Northwest Region Office:
